While the new regulation drastically changes the rules in terms of rights, obligations and resorts concerning the use of personal data, the CNIL becomes the chosen intermediary for citizens.

In the context of the implementation of the new European regulation, the CNIL supports companies to ensure their compliance, offering them legal security tools and working with European counterparts on clear and concrete guidelines. The CNIL now supports more than ever individuals in this new legal environment.
Since 25 May 2018, the citizens who are victims of a misuse of their personal data can directly lodge a complaint with the CNIL, referral authority regarding personal data protection.
In order to assist citizens in their steps, the CNIL has set up diversified services and teams of experts able to respond to three major imperatives :

- File a complaint
The SRP is in charge of the relations with the publics. This service welcomes and informs individuals and professionals who need legal advice CNIL.
